ACADEMY SECTION (This division is not rated by USEF) |

General · The rider will be judged on basic equitation skills and his/her ability to control the horse. · To insure the safety of other riders, any OUT OF CONTROL HORSE WILL BE EXCUSED IMMEDIATELY. · Academy riders may only show in Academy Classes. They may NOT return to the Academy Division after having shown in regular performance or equitation in any show. · Walk-Trot riders to be judged at the walk-trot both ways of the ring only. Riders who have cantered at a recognized or unrecognized show are NOT eligible for this division. · Students may not cross enter WT and WTC divisions at the same show. Once they have shown in WTC, they may not return to the walk/trot division. · Walk-Trot-Canter—riders will be judged both ways of the ring. · Classes will be split at 8 riders. · Entries will be judged 1st through 10th. Remaining riders will receive a participation ribbon. · Saddle seat way of riding utilizing a flat saddle.
Horse · The horse must earn his living as a school horse. · Any trainer substituting a show horse in the academy horse stall will be charged a $50 fee in addition to the stall fee. · The horse may be any breed, registered or unregistered. · No stallions! No Exceptions! · School horses may be leased by the rider—lease paperwork must be included with the entry form. · Open horses not used in a regular lesson program may not be used in the Academy division. · Horse is to be tacked as if giving a lesson. Snaffle and Martingale is encouraged on young riders, full bridles are acceptable. Flat saddle seat saddle is required. · Horses must be neatly presented with clean coast and clipped bridle path, face, ears, etc. · Hoof black is acceptable, but not required. · Only one pad or wedge is permitted with up to 16 oz shoe. Anything heavier will be considered a show packaged and will not be permitted to show. Show farrier to make final decision.
Attire · Long sleeved, button down shirts with tie, vest optional · Jodphur pants only · All footwear should have a heel and be consistent with a paddock type of boot. · Hair must be neatly pulled back and out of the way of the riders number. · NO DERBIES or SHOW COATS ALLOWED! · No barn logos or identifying marks of any kind on rider or horse · Gloves and whips are optional. However, spurs are prohibited. · Students not complying with the above rules will simply not be judged. · Helmets are required for all riders 17 years & under
